Lisa Wynn, Celtic Harp
Lisa Wynn, composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, has been playing the Celtic Harp since 2002. With her harp she focuses primarily on contemplative music (playing for patients at the bedside, Taizé services or labyrinth walks). As part of the Harp and Wind duo, Lisa collaborates with Dennis Laughlin, a Native American Flute player, for various contemplative offerings. Lisa also leads a women’s singing circle, The SpiritSong Singers.
Lisa is a retired oncology nurse with over 35 years of healthcare-related experience. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree, a certificate in Spiritual Direction through the HeartPaths Spirituality Center in Oklahoma City, is certified as a Clinical Musician through the Harp for Healing program, and is a licensed minister in the state of Oklahoma. Lisa is married to Steve Wynn, who is retired from the Air Force, and they have two children and five grandchildren.
Dennis Laughlin, Native American Flute
Dennis Laughlin discovered the Native American and Native American Style flutes in 2005. He has since developed a passion for sharing the soothing, peaceful sounds of his instruments with others. He has performed at festivals, worship services, memorial services, weddings, and funerals throughout Oklahoma and beyond. In 2016 he and Lisa Wynn, a Celtic Harp player, had their first opportunity to collaborate. As often happens, life got in the way and greatly limited their opportunity to work closely together until December of 2019, when they formed Harp and Wind.
Dennis follows traditional Native American Flute playing that relies less on formal musical training and more on engaging emotion, expression and improvisation. He is currently enrolled in the Clinical Musician Certification Program to further enable him to use his music in therapeutic activities and settings. Dennis is widowed and lives in an historic home in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
We are happy to play at any venue that is interested in contemplative-style music. Some examples include outdoor events, restaurants, art galleries.
Our music is well-suited for many types of church services, especially special services that are more on the contemplative side, such as Blue Christmas, or Maundy Thursday services.
You may request that we play for your loved one at the bedside. Music has power to heal the soul, and is especially comforting during our transition from this life to the next.
Watch some videos of our playing on our YouTube channel, here.
